NE Forest Alliance

501(c)(3) public charity · Since 2016

A working forest for the next hundred years.

Northeastern Forest Alliance protects working forests across Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and upstate New York by helping landowners keep their woods in the family rather than selling to developers. We facilitate conservation easements, offer forestry planning, and run a small fund that helps rural families pay property taxes during hard years so they are not forced to sell.

What we do

Foster homes, not kennels.

Animals waiting on adoption with us sleep in real beds, get used to kids and other pets, and arrive at their new family with a behavior profile built over weeks, not a label stuck to a crate.

Easement Facilitation

We help families navigate the paperwork, tax implications, and appraisal process for a conservation easement. Thirty-four easements completed to date, covering 22,400 acres.

Forestry Management Plans

A certified forester on staff develops ten-year management plans for member families. Selective harvest, invasive species control, regeneration planning.

Tax Hardship Fund

Small grants and zero-interest loans to families facing property tax delinquency on forested land. Twelve families helped last year, no forced sales.

Every dollar moves an animal closer to home.

Our budget is public. Over 91% of donations go directly to animal care, not overhead or fundraising.
